How We Choose Products

Gate 1: Real Product
A product must be a genuine, purchasable item listed on a major US retail platform. We exclude bundles assembled only for search ranking, products with placeholder images that do not match the listing description and items that appear to be duplicated ASINs of an existing product under a different name. If we cannot confirm a product is a distinct, purchasable item, it is excluded before any other evaluation.
Gate 2: Verified Demand
A product must have at least 100 verified owner reviews or at least 100 confirmed purchases in the last month. This threshold ensures the products in our rankings have been bought and evaluated by real buyers, not just listed. Products that pass on review count alone but have essentially no recent purchase activity are flagged and reviewed individually before inclusion.
Gate 3: Rating of 3.8 or Higher
We require a minimum average owner rating of 3.8 stars to appear in a ShopperScout ranking. Products rated below this threshold have enough negative owner feedback that we do not consider them reliable recommendations, regardless of price or marketing. The rating must come from a minimum base of verified reviews, not a small sample that could shift significantly with a few new responses.
Gate 4: Real Brand and Ranking
The product must come from an identifiable, verifiable manufacturer with a real market presence, not a brand name that exists only as a label on a single Amazon listing with no other presence. Once all four gates are passed, products are ranked by a combination of rating, review volume, confirmed buyer demand and price. Higher-rated products with stronger verified demand rank above lower-rated alternatives at similar price points. Ranking positions are not for sale and are not influenced by affiliate commission rates.
